I am Hécate Regnier, a senior database administrator, DevOps engineer and system administrator in the Paris region, moving toward infrastructure architecture. This blog gathers the notes and write-ups from my own home lab and from years of running databases and Linux servers.
What I do
My work sits where databases, automation and security meet:
- Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and MySQL, with experience on Couchbase and RavenDB as well, in high-availability environments and during large data migrations.
- Automation: Ansible and Chef Infra, so that deployments, upgrades and configuration stay repeatable.
- Systems: Linux (Rocky Linux, CentOS and RHEL), Windows Server and VMware.
- Security and performance: operating system hardening, network security with Suricata and Wazuh, and database performance tuning.
My background
I have worked with databases since 2010. I started as a production DBA for a telecom operator, then led a data team as a data architect, and today I work across databases, automation and Linux infrastructure in an international technology group. I also taught Oracle and Business Objects to fellow students as a teaching assistant at my engineering school.
- Education: master’s degree in information technology, databases administration, SUPINFO International University (2007 to 2012).
- Certification: Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate (a retired version).
- Languages: French (native) and English (professional).
What you will find on this blog
You will find articles on MariaDB, PostgreSQL and Oracle, Linux hardening with systemd, SELinux and sysctl, security tools such as CrowdSec, Suricata and Wazuh, Ansible automation and self-hosting. I write what I run on my own servers. When an article comes from the official documentation rather than from my own machines, I say so.
